Adventure Network International is a private company which has pioneered private travel to the Antarctic. It operates from Punta Arenas in Southern Chile during the summer months flying a chartered Hercules from Punta Arenas to its blue ice runway at Patriot Hills in the inland of the Antarctic near the base of the Trans-Antarctic Mountains. From the base at Patriot Hills the company operates several light aircraft travelling as far afield as the south pole.

PATRIOT 2   1999 December 13th Airmail cover from Patriot Hills Camp     Price US$5

Note: This cover bears a different cachet at lower left for the Adventure Network International South Pole Expedition. For the 1999-2000 season ANI established a South Pole camp alongside the American Amundsen-Scott South Pole Station. They flew several parties to the South Pole in twin otter aircraft, helped arrange logistics for the Mil-2000 Russian South Pole Expedition and also helped with several other private expeditions.
