COMANDANTE FERRAZ

The Brazilian Base Comandante Ferraz Base is situated on King George Island in the South Shetlands. It is a full time base and concentrates on biological sciences and especially coastal and shelf marine ecosystems.

Price US$6Note: The above cover has good clear strikes of the large circular Base postmark plus a base cachet at bottom center, the "Ary Rongel"ship cachet in violet at bottom left and a Brasil Antarctic sticker at top left. It has been back stamped on arrival in Christchurch on 7th March, 2000.

2000 (November 11th) cover from Comandante Ferraz Base. Price US$8Note: The above cover has been signed by Satie Taniguchi a regular member of the Brasilian Antarctic team. The postage stamps used are a se-tenant pair issued in 2000 to celebrate the famous Brasilian sailor Felipe Eduardo Alves De Souza who rowed the South Atlantic single handed and also circumnavigated Antarctica by yacht. Backstamped on arrival in Christchurch 19 December, 2000.
