This party provided logistic support for various German Antarctic teams plus some teams from other nations throughout the Antarctic Peninsular and as far afield as the South Pole and the South African Sanae Base

Note: The above cover is signed by all 6 members of the German Polar air team from both aircrews. The postmark is the special Punta Arenas Rapida datestamp used for airmail. Backstamped 15 December 1999 on arrival in Christchurch.

The German Antarctic Air unit for the 20th season arrived at Punta Arenas in the middle of November, 2002 and comprised 10 people as shown at left plus two aircraft "Polar Two" and "Polar Four".

The unit provides air support from Punta Arenas to Rothera to Halley Station to Neumayer Station and points in between plus supplying deep field camps.

Note: The photo at right shows Martin Hinderwaldner who has autographed the above cover. Martin is the chief pilot for the Expedition having flown with the team for many years.
