TelstraClear
TelstraClear emerged in 2002 as a major force in the New Zealand phonecard market following their take-over of the previous market leader NetTel which itself had earlier taken over Ephone. For a short while TelstraClear continued to issue and support cards issued in other brand names but in March 2002 the first TelstraClear branded cards appeared on the market with the rebranded TalkTalk card series previously issued by NetTel. |

In 2004 a promotion was run giving free Kit Kat bars with $10 and above cards. This was indicated by a sticker placed on the front of cards with an expiry date of 30 June, 2004 as shown at right. |

The $10 card at right has a "Hot Deal USA 4c per minute" sticker affixed. This first appeared in May 2005. This sticker can be found on a variety of cards including TalkPlus and ephone. |

This set was first released on December 1st 2002 in a special limited edition folder. (2000 produced) Late in December eight of the cards were put on sale through NZ Post and Whitcoulls outlets with the release being extended to other outlets from January 1st, 2003. The $30 Saruman card however was only available as part of the limited edition folder. We have folders available for purchase at NZ$260 plus post/packaging (About US$150 total). This is the only Two Towers phonecard set issued in New Zealand. |
