NEWCALL
Newcall joined the New Zealand phonecard market in 1998.
It's Thai owners carved out a sizable share of the market in a short time by targeting particular user groups such as the Samoan community with a special "Manu Samoa" card issue. They also targeted the Philipino sailor market. |

On 11th January, 2001, the Chief operating officer Guy Pierce said that Newcall had decided to cut its losses and concentrate on its other investments. It was quitting the telecommunications business and had sold its remaining business to Telstra Saturn. On the 10th of March, 2001 a notice appeared in all main New Zealand newspapers announcing the wind-up of the business. A new business called Global Call eventually appeared and new cards will be found listed under that company name. |
